On these days the museum will focus on the rocks, gems and minerals in Virginia by setting up a special display of these items and encouraging the public to bring in any interesting rocks or minerals so that staff can identify the material.

Bring the whole family and see how many colorful eggs the kids, 11 and under, can find! The History of Kellysville and the Kelly Gold Mine

The Gold Mining Camp Museum is honored to welcome James Flanagan for presentation about the history of the village of Kellysville from 1829 when John P. Kelly bought the mills, property, and plantation from Robert Beverly, to the present. Mr. Flanagan, an honored high school and college instructor, founder and Past-President of the Fauquier County Civil War Roundtable, an avid researcher and tour guide for the Kelly's Ford Battlefield, and presently the Education Coordinator for the Liberty Heritage Society, will describe how and why the area went from the most productive village anywhere along the river to non-existent today.
